This is a subscription concert in which the Japanese Music Group will re-create from its unique perspective the classics, folk songs, and masterpieces of Western music, welcoming a variety of sounds of Japanese instruments plus chorus. In the first half of the concert, Japanese and Western sounds will be woven together in a variety of compositions, including a koto quartet, a medley of French music, and transformations of folk songs, while the second half will feature the premiere performance of the music drama "Oedo no Musicians" with the Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus. This new work, a retelling of Grimm's fairy tale "Bremen's Band" set in the Edo period, is a must-see for its rich narrative stage music. Please enjoy the fascinating blend of tradition and creativity.
