.....................................

This video is a recording of Yoko Ono's masterpiece "Cut Piece" performed at the end of "Arts in Everyday 2025 - John Cage and Yoko Ono" (150 minutes in total) held on May 11, 2025 at Hillside Plaza (in Hillside Terrace) in Daikanyama, Tokyo. The entire recording (25 minutes).

Cut Piece (1964/66)" is one of Yoko Ono's most famous event scores, in which the audience cuts the performers' clothes on stage.

In this performance, the physical distance between the audience and the performers was further reduced than in the first performance in 1964, and the stage and audience seats were connected without any difference in level. The audience picked up the scissors themselves in a space with no formal boundaries.

In this version, as stated in Yoko Ono's text, the performer's gender was intentionally removed, and the performance was reconfigured as a performance of the year 2025. The physical involvement of the audience creates a time of both stillness and tension, intimacy and uncertainty.

The stage design, costumes, and spatial design were created by Michiru Murakami, who created the costumes for Matthew Barney and Bjork in the film "Restraint Drawing 9," making this one of 2025's answers to Yoko Ono's work visually as well.

This work is also one of the "Nine Concerts" sent by Yoko Ono for the John Cage project "Notations.

* "Arts in Everyday 2025 - John Cage and Yoko Ono" (150 minutes in total) is currently in production. Please look forward to it.
