Setagaya Citizens' Chorus 33rd Regular Concert
◆400 years ago, 200 years ago, and back in time to the present day.
2025/09/21(su.) 15:00 Starting
The program spans every 200 years, including the currently active Yuta Miyake, Johann Strauss II, who celebrated his 200th birthday this year, and Madrigal, who was born about 400 years ago.
Mienai Kotsuzuke" is a story about "life" written by Naoko Kudo. Composer Yuta Miyake asks, "Did we have a promise before we were born? No one can know this. But we live today clutching the "Invisible Solution," and our souls will one day return to our hometowns.
The theme of the madrigal is "courtship. We humans have sung songs of love, following the courtship calls of crickets and cuckoos. We have selected five gems from among the many madrigals.
This year is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss II, so we will sing "Tales from the Vienna Woods" and "Emperor's Round Dance" from his three great waltzes. The lyrics of the Emperor's Round Dance have been newly composed by Music Director Sakamoto.
The overall theme of the song is the activity of life and reincarnation of all living creatures.
