Tokyo Junior Orchestra Society 25th Regular Concert

The Tokyo Junior Orchestra Society (T.J.O.S.) is a youth orchestra based in Tokyo with members ranging from elementary school students to university students. T.J.O.S. has been practicing under the guidance of Fuminori Shinozaki, longtime concertmaster of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and musicians who have performed with major Japanese orchestras. In 2009, the orchestra was certified as a non-profit organization by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and, unusually for a junior orchestra in Japan, it is not sponsored by any particular company or municipality. Many of our graduates have been active in various fields, not only in Japan and abroad but also in the music world, and some of them are now working as instructors for the orchestra, devoting themselves to the training of their younger colleagues. This year, we will welcome Mr. Keitaro Harada, an up-and-coming Japanese conductor who is active on the world stage, and Mr. Genkai Ishimura (our instructor), who graduated from the orchestra and is currently active as a trombonist with the Gunma Symphony Orchestra, will perform with the children as a soloist. Please come and listen to the children's youthful performance.
