The Kawasaki Citizen's Symphony Music Festival began as an event at the opening of MUZA. The Kawasaki Citizens Orchestra is a joint orchestra of four amateur orchestras in Kawasaki City. This year, the Aso Philharmonic Orchestra will play a central role as the organizing orchestra.
Respighi's Roman Trilogy is well-known, but this year's concert will feature "Roman Festivals" and "Roman Fountains," which are rarely performed. Respighi's colorful soundscapes will make you feel as if you are in Rome.
Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, the most popular of all piano concertos, is a highlight of course for the superb virtuosity of the solo piano player, but the melancholy and beautiful melody is also often used in movies and other media, so please listen to it as well.
Respighi and Rachmaninoff were actually composers of the same period. Respighi even arranged some of Rachmaninoff's piano pieces for orchestra. Please enjoy the two personalities who lived at the same time.
