Asakusa Opera" produced a succession of famous singers who left their mark on the times, including Rikizo Taya, Yoshie Fujiwara, and Tamaki Miura.
The song and dance performances that took place day after day and night in Asakusa's six districts 108 years ago were a unique form of entertainment that adapted music of all genres, including opera, musicals, girls' revues, jazz, and chansons, in the Asakusa style.
Although the Asakusa Opera movement came to an end with the Great Kanto Earthquake, it became the starting point of Japan's entertainment culture.

The "Ah, Asakusa, the City of Dreams! is a review commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Asakusa Opera and has been performed repeatedly mainly at the Asakusa Toyokan.
In 2017, 2019, and 2022, month-long performances in Asakusa were a great success.
Regional performances in Yamagata, Akita, Morioka, Fukushima, Yokohama, and Osaka were also well received,
Asakusa's long-run performance will be held again this year.
