Continuing on from last year, biwa player Yoshiko Sakata and storyteller Teikagami Ichiryusai will weave their way through the world of ghost stories. In "Yuki-onna (Snow Woman)," a story written by Koizumi Yakumo, the delicate melody of the biwa and the emotionally rich narration bring to life the fantastic tale of a snow woman, while in "Shinkei kanagafuchi (The Ravenous Abyss)," a masterpiece by Sanyutei Encho I, the elaborately layered stories of fate and weirdness, combined with the powerful storytelling of the kodan, will send a chill down the audience's spine. This is a gem of a ghost story performance that allows the audience to fully enjoy the best of traditional performing arts.
