Masaru Nakayama Oboe Recital

All Beethoven Programs

2025/04/20(su.) 14:00 Starting

Zushi Cultural Plaza Hall Nagisa HallKanagawa

Two and a half years have passed since the recital held in October 2022, and we will hold a recital this year, which is our life's work every three years♪

It has been about 200 years since Beethoven passed away. We will perform his masterpieces that still shine brightly without loss. Beethoven actually began composing his oboe concerto at the age of 23. Today, only a partial sketch of one movement remains, but his later symphonies and chamber works show that he was attached to the oboe.

Unfortunately, no sonatas or concertos remain, but expressing Beethoven's world with the oboe was one of my "things I wanted to do. I have been planning this project for many years, and now I am pleased to announce it!

Since the concert will be held in early spring, I will perform the most famous of all violin sonatas, the "Spring Sonata," on the oboe. And from Beethoven's late cello works, I will perform "Variations on a Theme from Handel's 'Judas Maccabeus' Behold, the Brave One Returns" on English horn.

It is amazing that Beethoven took the trouble to compose two pieces for two oboes and an English horn. Both are well-known masterpieces of chamber music, and we are sure you will enjoy them.

Please come and listen to the music of the greatest genius of the century who revolutionized the music world with his sensitivity and passion.
