◆Schumann: Overture "Hermann und Dorothea" Op.136 (1857)
This is a concert overture composed by Robert Schumann and quoted from that song that everyone knows.
Incidentally, when Napoleon Bonaparte became emperor in 1804, the lyrics of the song, "Overthrow the tyrant," were forbidden to be sung in public from the First Empire to the Restoration Monarchy, except with special permission.
◆Schubert: Symphony No. 3 in D major, D200 (1815)
Schubert composed this symphony when he was 18 years old, and completed the work during the landmark period of his time, when Napoleon was completely disgraced as a result of the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815.
The motifs of the symphony include folk songs, and the work reflects the new social movements of the time, such as the awareness of "nationhood" and the formation of a vague "nation-state".
◆Beethoven: Symphony No.3 in E-flat major op.55 (1804)
In the 1990s, Bärenreiter published the original edition of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, revised by Jonathan Delmar, which caused controversy in both performances and recordings. It may be something different from the "Hero" you have heard before!
