Ensemble Jupiter Spring Concert 2025

The 2025 Spring Concert features Beethoven by violin virtuoso Gérard Poulet and a collection of three "D major" works that fold together extended, springtime-appropriate musicality and expertly composed beauty.

D major is bright, festive, and sometimes heroic, with a lot of open strings, which allows the strings to sound good. Since the Baroque period, it has also been used as a symbol of light and glory. There are many famous violin concertos, and works by Tchaikovsky and Brahms have been played with brilliant instrumental sounds.

Among such violin concertos, Beethoven's works are regarded as "kings".
The quiet timpani D quartet leads us to breath, contemplation, and the majestic climax that awaits us. The Beethoven experience that the orchestra has cultivated in performing Beethoven will be challenged with the incomparable power of the tone and interpretation of the maestro, who will turn 87 this summer.

The second half is Brahms' Symphony No. 2.
The contrast between the tight structure and the openness of the music, with the three notes "D-Cis-D" at the beginning serving as a clamp, will always present new scenery to the listener and the player.

The concert opens with the overture to "The Marriage of Figaro," a melody that begins with a two-note repetition that echoes Brahms and takes flight. Mozart, the name synonymous with this orchestra, will add a colorful touch to the concert.

The well-known masterpieces of the late afternoon will bring us closer to the deep charm of the music, which is different from the "heat" of the music.
