Saudade - Nostalgia-inducing samba and fado music

European Portugal and South American Brazil share a common language, Portuguese.
During the Age of Discovery, Brazil had a history of being colonized by Portugal.
The Portuguese were the first Westerners to come to Japan, and many of the Japanese words we take for granted today are of Portuguese origin.
This is a rare opportunity to enjoy samba and fado, the folk songs of both countries, while thinking about such history.
The samba player is Jun Kanami, who has been exploring the art of samba in Brazil since the 1980s.
The fado player is Takuya Takayanagi, a rare fadista who is not from Portugal.
