Comment from Pianist Rie Tanaka
On July 20 (Sun.) at Ginza Oji Hall, I will give a piano recital focusing on Brahms' "Piano Sonata No. 3" and Chopin's "Piano Sonata No. 2.
This sonata by Brahms is the only one written after meeting Schumann. Brahms' love for his teacher, Dr. Schumann, and his love for his teacher's wife, Clara, who was attracted to and fell in love with him, are both genuine.
But there is also a sense of resentment and fear because of his love.
On the other hand, Chopin's Sonata No. 2 is famous for its funeral march. From the very beginning of the piece, one cannot help but feel resentment and fear of death. We will continue to practice so that we can get as close as possible to the essence of the music, in which their souls dwell.
I would be happy if I could play "Love and Death" by Brahms and Chopin for you ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ I am looking forward to seeing you.
We are looking forward to seeing you ♡♡♡♡.
