Japan Philharmonic Orchestra 772nd Subscription Concert in Tokyo Unofficial

The July subscription concert with Junichi Hirokami, Artistic Advisor to the Friends of the JPO, will take you on a journey through the stars, this time with the Tanabata Festival in mind. Holst's Suite "The Planets," one of the most famous orchestral works of the 20th century, is a magnificent astrological work that compares the planets of the solar system to the gods of Greek mythology. It is a masterpiece that makes full use of the brilliant palette of the modern orchestra, and the first half of the program features the "Bass Clarinet Concerto" by Toshiaki Sato. The tranquility of the music, sometimes reminiscent of Noh theater, will form a pleasing contrast with the "Planets" in the second half.
