Ochanomizu OB Orchestra

　We "Ochanomizu OB Orchestra" are a working orchestra mainly composed of former members of the Ochanomizu Orchestra (an orchestra of students of Tokyo University of Science, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Ochanomizu University, etc.). Currently, we hold concerts once or twice a year mainly in Tokyo.

　The program for this year's concert is a collection of three pieces that symbolize "things that bring spiritual richness to people. Fantasy", "Belief", and "Nature", none of them are absolutely necessary, but if they were, they would enrich our hearts, wouldn't they?

　Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute" is said to be the most performed opera in the world, and has been loved by many people from its first performance until today. The overture alone has been featured as the opening of many orchestral concerts. The story is filled with fairy tale elements such as "The Temple," "The Magic Flute," "The World of Day and Night," "The Ring of the Sun," "The Trials," and many others. Mozart's music is magical, joyful, and light. The immersion in the fairy tale world is the greatest charm of this opera and the reason why it has been loved for a long time.

　Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5 "Reformation" is somewhat less well known than Symphonies No. 3 "Scotland" and No. 4 "Italy," but it is a masterpiece filled with Mendelssohn's anguish, conflict, and pride. Although Mendelssohn began composing this piece for the 300th anniversary of the Reformation, it could not be performed for various reasons, and after many revisions, it was considered a failure even by the composer himself.

　And then there is Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, "The Countryside," which goes without saying. In addition to the title, each movement is accompanied by a title reminiscent of nature. -The piece begins with the feeling of clearing the mind when you wake up in the morning and open the window to feel the country breeze, a pleasant walk along the stream, watching the farmers' gathering, being unexpectedly struck by a storm, and feeling joy at the beauty of the storm after it passes. The musical expression that changes before and after the storm is very skillful, and the beginning of the 5th movement is very healing.
