From the breath of "Spring" to the echoes of today, a colorful story played by strings

Welcome to the enchanting world of string music, beginning with Vivaldi's "Spring". Birdsong played by Eri Kitahara's beautiful violin, and the brilliant light emitted by "Starburst" by Jessie Montgomery, one of the leading American female composers of our time. You will also not want to miss the powerful string symphony by Florence Price, an African-American female composer who has left her mark on history.

The passionate melodies of Mexican composer Nubia Jaime Don Juan and the sensitive musical world of Yukiko Nishinup, a Japanese-American composer active in the United States, are also part of this program. And finally, under the peaceful night sky played by Dvořák's Serenade, forget the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in the world of music.

This is a concert spun by strings that transcends diverse cultures and eras.

Highlights of each piece

Spring" from "The Four Seasons" by Vivaldi: The master of baroque music depicts a scene of spring. Ms. Eri Kitahara's violin vividly expresses the chirping of birds and the murmuring of a stream.
Starburst" by Jessie Montgomery: An energetic work by one of America's leading contemporary female composers. It is characterized by sparkling tones and vibrant rhythms.
Florence Price, Symphony for Strings in G major: A work by the historic composer who was the first African-American woman composer to be performed by a top orchestra. The powerful melody and rich harmonies are impressive.
Nubia Jaime Don Juan, "Don José, Mercy to You": A work characterized by passionate melody and delicate expression, set against a traditional Mexican rhythmic background.
Yukiko Nishinup "River Stories": A water story by a Japanese-American composer active in the United States. Its delicate tone and atmosphere are appealing.

Under the direction of conductor Yutaka Kono, beautiful harmonies and powerful string sounds will fill Kokubunji Izumi Hall.
