The 114th Subscription Concert of the New Japan Symphony Orchestra will present Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Denen" and Carl Nilsen's Symphony No. 5.
Beethoven's "Rural" was published in 1808, and among his nine symphonies, it is particularly famous for its depiction of nature and rural scenery. The symphony consists of five movements, each of which expresses natural scenes and people's emotions in music.
On the other hand, Symphony No. 5 by Nilsen, a leading Danish composer, is one of his most important works, completed in 1922, and consists of two movements. It is considered one of Nilsen's most iconic symphonies and is highly regarded among the symphonies of the 20th century. The symphony is said to reflect the social conditions of the time and the inner struggles of human beings.
