Nagoya Sinfonia Orchestra

This is the 86th regular concert of the Nagoya Sinfonia Orchestra, an amateur orchestra active in Aichi Prefecture.
The opening piece is the overture to the opera "Nabucco" by Italian composer Verdi. Nabucco was an ancient Babylonian king, but the chorus in the play, "Go, my thoughts, on golden wings," is still sung like a national anthem in Italy. Now, the reason for this?　Its beautiful melody, which expresses the feelings for the motherland, also appears in the overture.
Next, we will perform Mozart's symphony No. 31, "Paris," which he composed in 1778 during his stay in Paris, and which, in order to meet the expectations of the Parisians, incorporated the French taste of the time and broke new ground by using the clarinet for the first time in a symphony. The music is bright and cheerful from beginning to end. The tone of the symphony is cheerful throughout, but it is deeply moving to think of Mozart's grief at the loss of his mother, who had accompanied him to Paris at the same time.
Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 was composed about 100 years later. Bruckner was an Austrian composer like Mozart, but he was born in the countryside, and in this piece, one can especially feel the "voice from nature. The title "Romantic" suggests a sweet romance, but unfortunately it is not... Only the composer knows what it means, but it may be a kind of nostalgia for the Middle Ages and nature. The day begins with the sound of horns emerging from the fog. Please take a peek into the vast world of Bruckner's music, which combines delicacy and boldness, and whose harmonies are constantly shifting and beautiful.
