Orchester des Himmels was founded in 2020 by alumni and former members of the University of Tokyo's Music Department Orchestra with the aim of performing music that is rarely performed by amateur orchestras.
The name of the group is derived from the subtitle of the last movement of Mahler's Symphony No. 4, "Das himmlische Leben" (Life on High), which was performed at the first concert in 2022.
For the 5th concert, the orchestra will welcome Mr. Sakika Yoshida as soloist to perform Pierné's Harp Concerto, and will also present a challenging program featuring The Rite of Spring, one of the most iconic orchestral works of the 20th century.
