About Hildegard von Bingen
The achievements of this great saint, born 900 years ago in Germany, are so immeasurable that no intellectual in medicine, theology, pharmacy, natural science, or any other field could possibly do her justice.
Hildegard, who became abbess of a women's convent, had become well known for her prophecies, miracles, and books such as "Know the Way". She was also involved in political and ecclesiastical events, which was highly unusual in an era of scorn for women. She was encouraged by the Pope to write books in recognition of her visionary powers, she preached public sermons, created morality plays, etc., and many "firsts" and "firsts for women" are used to describe her.
When she wrote the "Composite Book of Medicine" on diseases and their cures, she also created liturgical poems and music, which survive as "Echoes of the Harmony of Heaven's Revelation. As she says in her autobiography, "I created songs and melodies to praise God and the saints without being taught by any human being," and it can be said that her chants express the music of heaven and the joy of life in her own unique way that is not confined to church melodies.
On September 17, 1179, at the age of 81, she returned to heaven, and in October 2012, Benedict XVI proclaimed Hildegard Doctor of the Church.
Appearances
Naomi Hanai graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Den Haag, The Netherlands, with a diploma in Baroque Voice, and from the Brabant Conservatory of Music, with a diploma in Old Music Voice Ensemble (by Rebecca Stewart), respectively.
As an activity to sing all 77 pieces of Hildegard's chant book "Sinfonia by Heavenly Revelation", she conducts online salons and regular in-person practice sessions, using manuscripts as a guide.
