We will present a duet from our favorite opera "Arabella" by R. Strauss, various operas and songs, as well as Christmas songs unique to the month of December.
Kanade Shintaku (soprano)
Born in Tokyo, U.S.A. Graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music. Completed the Graduate School of Toho Gakuen School of Music and the Master's Course of the Graduate School of Music of Toho Gakuen School of Music. Completed master classes at the Nikikai Opera Training Institute. Performed in the "NIKIKIKKAI New Voice Tabe" for those with outstanding grades. She made her debut as Atalanta in "Serse" at the Nikikai New Wave Opera Theater.
In recent years, she has been actively studying and performing as a member of the Nikikai Chorus, appearing in operas performed by the Nikikai and in the chorus of an outdoor performance at the Sassari Opera House in Sardinia, Italy. She has studied voice under Emma Kobatake and Makiko Kyota.
Asuka Ishii (soprano)
Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music. Completed the Graduate School of Toho Gakuen School of Music. Completed the master's course in vocal music at Toho Gakuen School of Music. Completed the master class at the Nikikai Opera Training Institute. During her studies, she performed in concerts at the same institute. She has appeared in operas such as Cherubino (highlight) in "The Marriage of Figaro," Marcellina in "The Gentle Convent," and as a prostitute in the Russian opera "Kotayu" at the Nikikai Days. She has also been active in performing German lieder and Japanese songs, and has appeared in chorus and ensemble as a member of Amici Kirinohana on BS-TBS's "Nihon Meisho Albume" (Japanese Masterpieces Album).
She has studied vocal music under Megumi Tsuyama, Makiko Kyota, and Mitsumi Koshigoe. She is a member of the German Lieder Society of Japan. She is a member of the Nikikai.
Fumi Shimizu (Piano)
Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music and completed two years of the same program. Studied at the Graduate School of Accompaniment at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She won the first prize in the General A Division of the 9th Yokohama International Music Competition. She won the Outstanding Performer Award at the 33rd Sogakudo Japanese Song Contest.
She has been a commissioned accompanist for the Toho Gakuen School of Music's voice and conducting departments. She has been actively engaged as an ensemble pianist, mainly for vocal and choral accompaniment, and has been involved in opera performances as a music staff member, such as "The Snow Queen" and "Afternoon Tug" performed by Nikikai.
