2024/11/10(su.) 14:00 Starting

HOKUTO Bunka Hall, Medium HallNagano

Official https://ncso.web.fc2.com/index.html

This subscription concert will feature Bach: Chaconne (arranged by Raff), Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D major, Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 5 in D minor "Reformation" in the first draft of Bärenreiter's Hogwütz edition.

The conductor is Mr. Kazuyoshi Tanaka.
The violinist is Mr. Kenshi Kiriyama.

The soloist is a native of Nagano, Japan.
Mr. Kenshi Kiriyama, a native of Nagano and currently a professor at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, will be our soloist.
He began playing the violin at the age of three and further studied composition under composer Kiyoshige Koyama, a native of Shinonoi, Nagano, and published his own orchestral compositions when he was in junior high school in Ueda. He was a member of the orchestral group at Nagano High School in Nagano Prefecture, where he participated as an extra in the orchestra's performances.
After that, he went on to Tokyo University of the Arts, its graduate school, and the Frankfurt Conservatory, where he won first prizes in domestic and international competitions, and has accumulated many achievements. He is still passionate about nurturing young musicians, performing, releasing CDs, and teaching us amateurs.

The members of the orchestra are very much looking forward to the addition of Mr. Kiriyama's Nagano roots to the Nagano City Symphony Orchestra's sound, which has been nurtured over many years with conductor Kazuyoshi Tanaka.

Bach's Chaconne is originally performed for unaccompanied violin, but this time the orchestra will perform the orchestral version arranged by Joachim Raff.

In addition, Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5 will be performed not in the often-performed revised version, but in the version that is considered the first draft. In the revised version, many parts are cut, but in the first draft version, there is a recitative (flute solo) before entering the 4th movement, which is a feature of the first draft version. We hope you will enjoy it.

We look forward to seeing you at the concert.
