We have been playing works (not necessarily by Czech composers) left in Bohemia's libraries in 2022 and 2023. Most of the works are completely unknown or only slightly recognized today. This year's program is the final chapter in the series and features a composer of Czech origin. The time was the reign of Rudolf II of Habsburg (Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia) from the late 16th to the early 17th century. Until then, Prague had regained its composure after the domination of other countries that had continued since the 14th century and the religious wars in the Hus Wars, and political culture had greatly developed with the royal palace of the Holy Roman Emperor at its center. In this issue, we will focus on a work composed at such a time and rarely performed in Japan. What kind of world will unfold? We look forward to seeing you there. (Akatsu)
