Profile
Satoshi Osawa, ocarina player
He first encountered the ocarina while a student at Kunitachi College of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, saxophone major. He studied saxophone under Yoshiyuki Hattori and Keiji Shimoji, and ocarina under Takao Hiramoto. He was the first professional player to use the world's first 3-octave multi-wind ocarina.
In 2006, he gave the first recital by an Oriental in Italy, and since then, he has given concerts in seven countries: Italy, Korea, Taiwan, China, Germany, Austria, and the United States. In Japan, he has given recitals at Suntory Hall, Tokyo Opera City, and other prominent halls, and has also performed at historical sites such as Ise Jingu Shrine, Izanagi Shrine, Ishiyama Temple, and Nijo Castle.
In April 2010, he released "Osawa Ocarina" from Prima Gakki, contributing to the worldwide popularization of the multi-wind ocarina. 2008 International Art League Music Award and the Encouragement Award at the 3rd Tokyo Summit Music Competition were both awarded to his ocarina.
