Romashka Philharmonic 2nd Concert

This is the second concert of the orchestra formed with the goal of performing the entire "War Trilogy" by Shostakovich. This time, the orchestra will present "Symphony No. 8," the second piece of the War Trilogy, following "Symphony No. 7. Compared to the previous work, which depicted a dramatic victory, the Eighth Symphony's style seemed to bring out the tragedy of the war and caused controversy at the time, and for a time it was even banned from performance. The breathtaking tension and overwhelming sound are truly unique to Shostakovich. This is a masterpiece that we hope you will listen to.

The first half features Shostakovich's only operetta "Moscow Cheryomushki" (Moscow Cheryomushka) Suite.
Although the brass band arrangement of this work is well known, it is rarely performed by an orchestra.
It is a festive and cheerful piece. We hope you will take this opportunity to enjoy it.
