Traverso and clavichord with gale force

2024/09/13(Fr.) 15:30 Starting

Yuuhisai KoudoukanKyoto

*There will be a daytime performance (one-hour program, no intermission) and an evening performance*.

This concert will feature works on clavichord and traverso by Johann Sebastian Bach's eldest son, Friedemann, and his second son, Carl Philipp Emanuel, as well as works by J. S. Bach's last known disciple, Mutel.
The music of J. S. Bach's sons and daughters has been called the "Hyper Emotional Style" or "Hyper Emotional Style," as many of their works incorporate explosive expressions of emotion in their music, as if in rebuttal to the Baroque era, which placed great emphasis on reason and discipline.

The clavichord is a small keyboard instrument compared to the piano or harpsichord, and its sound is produced by striking the strings from below with a brass wedge-shaped metal fixture called a tangent. Because of this mechanism, it is possible to apply vibrato, which is not possible with other keyboard instruments, as well as strength and weakness obtained by the strength of the struck strings.

The traverso is roughly the "flute" used in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is not made of metal like the modern flute, but of wood with seven finger holes and a key.
Neither the clavichord nor the traverso produces a loud sound, but each note has a different color and shade, and it is possible to depict the shades of emotions that change from one to another.

The venue is very close to the audience, so you can enjoy the performance while looking at the instruments up close.
