Fauré and more Fauré

Debussy, Ravel, and Fauré are three musicians who contributed greatly to the development of modern French music. Although Faure's representative works such as "Requiem" and "Sicilienne (Siciliano)" are well known even today, they may not be as well known as Debussy and Ravel.
As professor and director of the Paris Conservatory of Music, Fauré was a leading figure in the French music world of his time. His modest attitude, which was always reserved despite the support of those around him, was reflected in his music as a modest and introspective style that was not superficially flashy, and this tendency became stronger in his later years. Fauré, who excelled at smaller pieces such as songs and piano pieces, also took up the challenge of chamber music, and left behind masterpieces that are consistent with his unique style.
On the 100th anniversary of his death, we present two piano quintets that are especially well-known as his masterpieces from the middle period onward. The top-class young musicians have gathered to perform these treasures of French chamber music, with their lush melodies, fragrant emotions, and deep prayer-like serenity, and they have said, "If Fauré could play them....".
In a letter to his second son, Philippe, Fauré wrote: "For me, art, and especially music, is a matter of life and death. For me, art, and especially music, lifts man out of his present reality as far as possible. This concert will be a glimpse into the world that Faure saw in music and beyond.
