Ensemble Tofu (Kochi), which has performed at music festivals around the world and has been active both in Japan and abroad, has decided to make its home base in Nishi-Tokyo City in 2022. Following last August, the ensemble will hold another performance in its hometown.
This year, Ensemble Kochi will perform "Asakusa Jazz Rhapsody" composed by Isao Matsushita, which was first performed by Ensemble Kochi in 2014, together with saxophonist Shuntaro Oishi. We will also perform arrangements of familiar works by Mendelssohn and Saint-Saens, as well as "Fimbul's Winter" by young Swedish composer E. V. Skold, a work we have solicited from the world at large.

The Ensemble Higashikaze was formed in 1999 as a new chamber orchestra by young composers and performers of the time, with Matsushita as its representative, after the performance group "Higashikaze Ensemble Acoustic Painting Berlin" formed in Berlin in 1983, led by Isao Matsushita (1951-2018).
With a wide repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary music, the ensemble has been active in introducing contemporary music from Japan and other Asian countries.
The orchestra has performed at regular concerts in Japan, "Kimaneni Ongakukai," "Nagano Music Festival," and "Asian Music Week in Yokohama," as well as at overseas music festivals in Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar, the Netherlands, etc. In 2005, they performed the Ninth at the "Anyo-in Daboto Rakkei Celebration" at Anyo-in, Itabashi Ward. In 2009 and 2010, he performed the opera "Kengo Sho - Abeno Nakamaro" (composed by Isao Matsushita) at Genjo Sanzoin of Nara's Yakushiji Temple to great acclaim.
Due to Matsushita's sudden death, in 2019, she will perform 《Hitenyu》 and other recent representative works of Matsushita in the memorial concert "Yoin Tenderness".
In 2020, Ritsuko Matsushita will assume the position of representative of the group, aiming to create music in unison with the audience.
