Suddenly, have you heard of the mandolin?
The mandolin is a stringed instrument that originated in Italy in the 17th century and has become widely popular and familiar in Japan since the Meiji era. Our group is a mandolin orchestra consisting of a mandolin, which is the equivalent of a violin in a string orchestra, a mandolatenor, which is the equivalent of a viola, a mandoroncello, which is the equivalent of a violoncello, a classical guitar, and a double bass.
Compared to the violin, the mandolin has a shorter history and is played by a smaller number of people. However, its musical appeal, including tone quality and expressiveness, is second to none of the stringed instruments.

For this concert, we have selected pieces from a wide range of genres, not only those widely played on the mandolin, but also those widely played mainly by rubbing string orchestras.
What kind of marriage between familiar classical music and a mandolin orchestra can you expect? What kind of mandolin pieces will bring out the full expressive power of the mandolin? We hope you will come to the venue to find out. We are looking forward to seeing you at the concert!
