Hiroko Kawai Soprano Recital in Yokohama

We have selected vocal music of various expressions from different periods and countries. The first half includes festive music by Purcell of England and Handel, who was born in Germany but became a naturalized British citizen; the poetry and music of the German Romanticism, in which the personal feelings of Goethe, Heine, and others were elevated to art; and the bright, innovative music of Richard Strauss, which is distinct from the decadence of the fin de siècle. The second half of the program features Spanish songs by Rodrigo, Japanese songs filled with longing and melancholy, and finally, a gorgeous opera by Franz
and a gorgeous opera by Franz Joseph Schumann. Ms. Maarten, who is fluent in five languages, will come to Japan from the Netherlands to provide piano accompaniment.
This is my first recital in five years, and I have been searching for a way to sing in a way that reaches the audience casually and cheers them up. We are looking forward to seeing you all at the concert.
