Global Philharmonic Orchestra

Formed in 1981 to participate in opera performances sponsored by the Shizuoka Opera Association, the orchestra performed "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Don Giovanni" together, etc. Since 1984, the orchestra has been active as a symphony orchestra, giving regular concerts twice a year. In addition to two overseas tours to Monaco, France, and Austria, the orchestra has performed with a variety of soloists, including violinist J.J. Kantorov, soprano Shinobu Sato, and horn player Frank Lloyd. After 35 years since its foundation, the orchestra has grown from about 50 members to over 100 members, and at times it has tackled the reproduction of the precise stylistic beauty of classical music, and at other times it has boldly tackled the large-scale works of modern and contemporary composers. The group also continues to work boldly on major works by modern and contemporary composers at the same time. The orchestra is an amateur orchestra with members of various ages and occupations, all of whom are rich in individuality.
