Gamelan Terang Bulan "Interactions Vol.1"
Gamelan and Balinese Dance "Nostalgia Nostalgia"
The gamelan of Bali, Indonesia is a percussion ensemble that continues to evolve and perform in close contact with the rich tropical nature and the lives of the people who live there. The gamelan, which has come to Japan, is also evolving while interacting with various things.
The energy of interaction is the driving force that makes music and builds acoustics.
<Nostalgia as a keyword Nostalgia
Nostalgia expresses feelings of nostalgia, nostalgia, longing for home, nostalgia, and remembrance of the past, as well as longing for things far away. This state of mind and body that transcends individual and ethnic differences and can resonate like a full-blown tremor is somewhat similar to the existence of music.
How will gamelan music and classical/traditional Balinese dance, with its trembling bronze resonance, together with photographs that have a deep sense of nature, resonate and fill the auditory, visual, tactile, and inner worlds of the people present? We invite you to share this rare moment in time and space.
We will also present the world premiere of the commissioned instrumental piece "Damar Wulan (Damar Wulan = Moon that keeps shining)" composed by our friend and key person who inspired the key words, Dewa Putu Lai, a musician from Pungosekan, Bali.
