Musica a la carte
The 5th Voluntary Concert
2024/07/06(sa.) 14:00 Starting
Musica" is a Latin word meaning music. The word "a la carte" is French for "a dish of your choice" or "a la carte cuisine," but it also means "diverse," and the name was chosen to express the desire to enjoy a wide variety of music regardless of genre.
The original inspiration for the name came from a "mini-concert" (held in December 1999) organized by the PTA's Family Education Class, a group of parents at Narashino City First Junior High School, where their children attended, but the group could not bear to dissolve after just one concert, so the members who got along well with each other gathered together to perform again in June 2000. In June 2000, the group was reorganized as Musica a la Carte.
In the 25 years since then, the group has steadily continued its musical activities closely connected to the local community, including lobby concerts at local community centers and performances at senior citizens' homes and children's groups.
The unique feature of the group is its composition, which is unique in the world. We have woodwinds (flute, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon), piano, guitar, bass, and other instruments, and most of our pieces are arranged by our own hands, as commercial sheet music is not available.
While cherishing the bliss of being immersed in the music we love, we are determined to continue to scratch our feet to evolve even further.
This time, we will be presenting handmade music from a variety of genres, including nostalgic J-POP, classical music, film music, standard jazz classics, and enka, all arranged by the members.
