Kazuyoshi Akiyama, who inherited Hideo Saito's clear conducting style and has been growing more mature in recent years at the age of over 80, makes his first appearance at the NHK Symphony Orchestra Orchard Subscription. Brahms's last symphony, No. 4, is a masterpiece in which the passion and resignation of the over-50 year old Brahms are depicted with expert brushwork. Akiyama will surely show us his virtuosity backed by his experience. In the first half of the concert, we can look forward to the popular Japanese pianist Alexander Gajev, winner of the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition and second prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition, playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3.
