Founded in 1998 in Dallas, Texas, USA, the Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra (DAAYO) is a musical organization for elementary and middle school students of Asian immigrants in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

In keeping with the spirit of its founding by actively featuring composers and works with Asian roots, DAAYO is a non-profit arts organization that makes cultural contributions to the community and promotes the character development of youth through high-quality music education. Today, the organization is composed of members of various nationalities, ethnicities, languages, and religious backgrounds, not limited to those of Asian descent.

Whether pursuing a career in music or not, participants benefit from a well-rounded program that includes weekly conductor-led rehearsals, part-specific lessons with professional players, experience as concerto soloists through auditions, and chamber music classes. Biennial performance trips to Asia, the roots of its founding, and Europe, the roots of classical music, are an important part of DAAYO's activities.

We are very happy to finally be able to realize the Japan tour scheduled for 2021, which was postponed due to the new coronavirus.

The program includes a diverse selection of familiar classical music by Elgar, Schubert, and Anderson, works by Asian composers Derek Chao and Soon Hee Newbold, nostalgic American film music, and music by the world-famous Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi. The program will be performed by the following artists.

Through these works, DAAYO continues to embody its founding principles and believes that it provides its participating members with an opportunity to enrich their musical experience and understanding of their cultural backgrounds.
