Aloha Ensemble Summer Concert 2024 Orchestra Concert
The John Williams Spectacular."
2024/06/30(su.) 17:30 Starting
Since 2007, the "Aloha Ensemble" has presented large-scale performances featuring chorus and actors in addition to brass band and orchestra. Starting with the "Star Wars Special," six performances since then (including the Spielberg film and Harry Potter specials) have attracted attention and been featured in a variety of media.
Now, after a postponement due to the Corona disaster, we are pleased to announce that we will be able to hold our first performance in six years, since 2018.
In this performance, you will be able to fully experience the music of John Williams, the master of film music who visited Japan last year for the first time in 30 years and captivated Japanese audiences with his conducting, along with us, the Aloha Ensemble, who love his music.
Orchestra: Aloha Galaxy Orchestra
Chorus: Aloha Fenice Choir
Conductor: Susumu Yamato
Part 1: Collaboration with Various Film Music
A selection of masterpieces of film music other than those by Spielberg and Lucas
Composer J. Williams has composed music for many films by many directors, and this time we will present a selection of his masterpieces from among them, including overtures from about half a century ago in the "Williams style," music from blockbuster films, theme music from laugh-out-loud funny films, and beautiful music from unknown masterpieces.
Part 2: Fascinating Arrangements and Festive Music
Arrangements of famous musical numbers and music for celebrations
Mr. J. Williams' versatile talents are not limited to movies. There will be a celebratory piece for the marriage of the Japanese Imperial Family and a monumental piece symbolizing the Olympic Games, which everyone around the world is surely familiar with. Finally, we will enjoy a light arrangement of a well-known musical number, and finally, a gorgeous film version of one of the most historic musicals of all time, accompanied by a violin solo.
Part 3: Our Star Wars
Featuring music from the old trilogy that has left a lasting impression on everyone.
The epic saga that has been in the making for more than 40 years since its release to the world in 1977 came to an end in 2019. For those of us involved in the performance, the music that speaks to us from the very beginning of the saga transcends the framework of film music to become one of the most representative orchestral works of the century. In this issue, we will feature music from the old trilogy, which has left a lasting impression on everyone. Now that we have witnessed the end of the saga, we feel the value and joy of performing these pieces of music and present them to you.
