Three types of keys through the ages
Here's a transition you don't know about.
2024/05/03(Fr.) 16:00 Starting
Showa University of Music South Building Yuri Hall (Kanagawa)
The "piano" is a familiar sight in school music rooms. Everyone has probably heard it at least once. However, did you know that there is a long history and story behind the shape and mechanism of the piano? This time, we have realized a dream concert where you can listen to three types of keyboard instruments at once: the harpsichord, which was born around the 16th century, the fortepiano, which was born around the 18th century, and the modern piano of today. For example, the harpsichord, which offers a graceful atmosphere like that of court nobility; the fortepiano, with its pleasantly soft and delicate tone and extremely beautiful weak notes; and the modern piano, which has made great strides in the range and difficulty of pieces that can be played. The Showa University of Music faculty will provide easy-to-understand explanations of the evolution and appeal of these three instruments from all aspects, including tone, shape, and materials.
Why not trace the 400-year history of keyboard instruments through the music of the time played by specialists in each instrument?
