Special opera performance by the Heiligenstadt Philharmonic Orchestra

"We, the Heiligenstadt Philharmonic Orchestra, are a new orchestra launched in Tokyo in 2019 by a group of amateur players who love the fragrant traditional sound of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, considered the best in the world. The wind and percussion section uses the same Viennese-style instruments as the Vienna Philharmonic - the so-called wienerhorn, wiener oboe, Wiener Akademie-style clarinet, and Schneller-style (non-pedal) timpani. Heiligenstadt" is the name of a place in Vienna's 19th district, famous for the paths and houses where Beethoven wrote his last will and testament, and for its heurige (local wine taverns), which Beethoven used in his countryside symphonies. We hope that you can feel the breath of this place, which is loved by Viennese and tourists alike, from our sound.

The first concert in 2024 will be a special performance of the opera in concert style with staging and Japanese dialogue (with some cuts) for the recitative parts. Mozart's Così fan tutte is a fascinating ensemble opera, with many multiple choruses in which both singers and orchestra are in beautiful harmony. With the conductor Daisuke Mogi, who has been remarkably active, and singers including soprano Seika Kawaguchi, who performs mainly in Yamanashi, and the OTY Singers, a specially formed ensemble under their direction, we aim to present a performance that makes the most of the sounds of Vienna, the home of opera."
