The 150th Ensemble of Tokyo Special Subscription Concert

The Ensemble of Tokyo is a unique group of renowned musicians from a wide range of generations.
Since its formation in 1986, the ensemble has held four subscription concerts a year. This year's first concert in March will mark the 150th anniversary of the Ensemble of Tokyo, and the program is full of the group's unique characteristics, with all concertos performed without a conductor and with members of the ensemble serving as soloists.
The first piece was Salieri's Concerto for Flute and Oboe. The soloists were Seiki Aoyama, oboe, who is the representative of Ensemble of Tokyo, and Narumi Murakami, flute, who studied under the founder, Chang-Kook Kim. Their unique approach is to focus on composers such as Salieri, whose performances are rare, and to demonstrate the true value of their works by masters of their craft.
The second piece is Beethoven's String Quartet No. 11 "Serioso" for string orchestra.
You will be able to enjoy the virtuosity and expression of the group's splendid string players in an ensemble of the highest standard.
The third piece is Brahms' Violin Concerto.
The soloist is, of course, Nao Tamai, the face of the Ensemble of Tokyo. Tamai, one of Japan's leading artists, has performed with the ensemble in many concertos, and her masterful performance of Beethoven three years ago has become the talk of the town. In addition, Tamai is the violinist most in demand for Bach's unaccompanied works and other German works, and her Brahms is truly a must-hear. All three pieces promise a fulfilling time.
