Martha Argerich, who has fascinated the world for more than half a century, returns to the Mito Chamber Orchestra (MCO) this year! The program will be Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3. The concerto is a masterpiece of 20th century piano concertos, full of sharp angles, lively rhythms, and rich colors, and is regarded as "Argerich's signature piece.
The orchestra will be conducted by Radek Babolak, who has earned the trust of the members for his exceptional musicianship and warm personality. The first half of the program features Bruckner's Symphony No. 1, the master of German late Romanticism, which marks the bicentennial of his birth. The composer himself humorously called it a "cheeky vagabond" because of its bold, restless movements and changes of musical ideas that stand out in Bruckner's distinctive style, including the grandeur of the composition and the unprecedented use of brass instruments. In this work, which is the first challenge for this chamber orchestra, Babolak and MCO will try to sculpt a new image of Bruckner.
