Project Alrescha" is a project to explore new possibilities for the saxophone by linking the saxophone to other instruments and to composers of the past and present, using the word Alrescha (meaning "string"), the alpha star in the constellation Pisces.
The performance will focus on Charles Kecklan, a modern French composer, and will include performances of Kecklan's works as well as the commission and premiere of a new composition based on Kecklan's "Epitaph for Jean Harlow".
The new piece was commissioned to Tetsutaro Masui, a graduate of Toho Gakuen School of Music and currently teaching at Senzoku Gakuen School of Music, and Shoichi Asahii, a graduate of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music whose works have been commissioned by various organizations and individuals.
