------------------
During the European Baroque period (17th-18th centuries), instrumental music was composed of melody instruments and supporting bass instruments. Interestingly, while melody instruments were usually designated, bass instruments were not.

In this concert, one cello plays the melody and the other cello and lute (a stringed instrument that preceded the guitar and was abandoned in the 18th century) play the basso continuo. The cello and lute do not play exactly the same thing, but rather, due to the nature of the instruments, the cello is more melodic and the lute more harmonic, creating a rich and fertile musical space.

The two cello players share the melody and the bass clef, which allows their individual personalities to be clearly expressed, and this will be one of the main attractions of this concert.

The cellos are, of course, Baroque style, with gut strings (twisted sheep's intestines) without endpins, and the sound of the composer's time is pursued.
