Senzoku Gakuen will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024.
SENZOKU GAKUEN 100th ANNIVERSARY Premium Concert is a two-year series of concerts featuring faculty and alumni.
We are pleased to present a double bass solo recital by Toshiaki Kairosawa, a graduate and part-time lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen.
The highlight of the concert will be all the movements of Stravinsky's Italian Suite [double bass version].
Kaiizawa has longed to perform this piece since he was a high school student, and he purchased the score for cello in the hope of someday performing it, knowing that it would be impossible. However, he had given up on the idea of playing it on the contrabass, as the heavy notes and other techniques were completely impossible. Recently, however, I learned that sheet music arranged for contrabass had been published, and I decided to buy it and play it with great joy.
The contrabass solo part uses a variety of techniques unique to stringed instruments, and is quite a difficult piece.
But even more difficult is the piano accompaniment part.
The score arranged for contrabass is written for orchestral tuning, but this time it is played in solo tuning. (*Score for solo tuning is not published.)
Please enjoy this 25-minute performance!
