The golden age of sackbut was around the 16th and 17th centuries, when sackbut players were employed in various parts of Europe and resounded at grand church masses and royal pomp and circumstance. It was during this period that the designation of instruments in musical notation was first made, opening up new possibilities for instrumental music. This time, Kazumasa Ono has composed a diverse program, focusing on pieces for which the sackbut (trombone) was designated, but also including pieces that were not designated but very likely played on the sackbut. In addition, the unique composition of sackbut, violin, and organ from the early Baroque period will bring back the sounds of the golden age of the sackbut.
