Sapporo Symphony Orchestra 659th Subscription Concert Unofficial

The subscription concert for the year 2023 will conclude with a program commemorating the 90th anniversary of Elgar's death. Elgar medalist Tadaaki Otaka has chosen Elgar's "Evening" as his "Evening Song. Michiaki Ueno, winner of the Geneva International Competition, will perform the masterpiece of the cello concerto. Symphony No. 2 is a magnificent symphony dedicated to King Edward VII. The music, which is even more English than the First Symphony, can only be appreciated in a live concert surrounded by the brilliant sound of the Symphony No. 2. The Otaka-Fuda Symphony Orchestra has performed the First Symphony six times and the unfinished Third Symphony four times, but the Second Symphony was performed only once in 2002 (and that was also the only time for the orchestra).
