Early Lutheran Vicinium Touring the Church Calendar 12

　Martin Luther, who questioned the state of the medieval Catholic Church, was excommunicated from Catholicism and organized his own congregation.

　This concert series features "Vicinium," a two-voice polyphonic piece used for music education and liturgy in early Lutheran monasteries in the 16th and 17th centuries, according to the church calendar.

　The series began in November 2022, and is currently in its second cycle, with selections of music from the 2024 church calendar. Each piece is a short piece of vitinium, a concentration of Renaissance polyphony techniques, and each cycle will introduce a dozen or so pieces of vitinium with a talk about the church calendar and quotations from the Bible.
