This is the first collaboration with conductor Daisuke Kokubo.
Originally, Brahms' Symphony No. 3 would be the main piece, but Serenade No. 2 is an unusual composition with three string sections (viola, cello, and double bass) and wind instruments without violins.
One section of the violinists will be replaced by violas.
The stage setting for The Magic Flute Overture and Brahms' Symphony No. 3 is also full orchestra with five string sections, timpani, and trombone, so after the intermission, the setting changes to a smaller, more chamber music-like atmosphere.
Serenade No. 1 was performed at last year's concert, but Serenade No. 2, which is much smaller in size, is more of a test of the ensemble's skills.
We look forward to seeing you at the concert.

About HIKAKAN
We are a two-manual orchestra that has been playing in Hikarigaoka since 1994.
We are not a large orchestra, but we value ensemble above all else and try to play by listening to each other's sounds.
We practice with the aim of being as small but spicy as the pepper used in the orchestra's logo, while at the same time remembering to have fun.
Songs performed
We play mostly two winds music, and we actively play classical and romantic music, as well as modern and contemporary music by Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Labelle, Debussy, and others. We also challenge various instrumental compositions such as string ensembles by Tchaikovsky and Brahms, and concertantes by Mozart.
