Closing out the year 2023! Lose yourself in dramatic music and gorgeous melodies... This year's Gilvester will feature a large selection of operas and gorgeous orchestral pieces! The first half of the program features Puccini in 2024, the 100th anniversary of his death! The first half will be filled with the sweet music of Puccini's masterpiece "Madama Butterfly," which will be performed in the Opera 2024 produced by Artistic Director Yutaka Sado and will mark the 120th anniversary of its premiere in the same year. The second half of this exciting program features John Williams' masterpiece "Star Wars," Wagner's operas, and Elgar's "Dignity" as well as other gorgeous orchestral masterpieces that have influenced later film music. The conductor is John Axelrod, who has worked with renowned opera houses and orchestras. The first half of "Madama Butterfly" will feature two charming divas trusted by the Maestro, Maki Mori and Michiko Hayashi. A special time will be presented.
