Mitaka City Orchestra

For the Mitaka City Orchestra's 62nd Regular Concert on Christmas Eve 2023, we have chosen Symphony No. 3 "Wagner" as the main program. Bruckner, who will celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth next year, is known for the episode in which he visited his admirer, the great master Wagner, showed him the score he had brought, and dedicated the work to him. In the first half of the concert, we will perform "Prelude and Death of Love" from "Tristan und Isolde," a work by Wagner himself that had a tremendous influence on the history of music in later generations, and Debussy's masterpiece "Prelude to the Pastoral Afternoon," which started from his devotion to the late Wagner, but went on a completely different path from Bruckner. The program will feature Debussy's masterpiece, "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Pastor. We hope you will enjoy the rich musical worlds of these three musicians, who are deeply connected beyond generations and countries, and mutually illuminate each other's music.
