Offenbach's "Heaven and Hell" is a comical operetta that was created to be enjoyed by a wider audience than opera, which was considered the entertainment of the upper classes, and is a perfect "gateway to opera".

In this amusing parody of Gluck's opera "Orfeo e Euridice," which celebrates the love between a husband and wife, the main characters are at odds with each other, and the Greek gods have a party and strike in heaven. Such slapstick is an ironic and funny satire on the gap between rich and poor and the disorder of manners and customs that lies behind the industrial and economic development that has continued to plague civil society until the present day.

Conducted by Shuji Okawa, conductor of the Biwako Hall Vocal Ensemble, directed by Tatsumune Iwata, who is very active in the Japanese opera world, the cast includes the Biwako Hall Vocal Ensemble, and for the chorus, the "Heaven and Hell" Chorus from the general public will join to present a familiar and delightful melody.
