This time, under the direction of Prof. Tsuyoshi Tabei, we will present a program of Anglo-American 20th century composers.

◆Gershwin / An American in Paris (1928)
This is a light and joyful piece in a jazz style, describing the scenery that Gershwin, an American, experienced in Paris. There is a cheerful and tasteful solo by the trumpet and an enchanting solo by the violin. Can Ruscoeur really swing?

◆COPLAND/Billy the Kid (1938)
This is a ballet suite inspired by the legendary gunfighter of the American Wild West.
There are melodies that remind us of the nostalgic scenes of his hometown, delightful rhythm play, and gunfights. Be careful of the percussion blasts, but it is a highlight!

◆Walton / Symphony No. 2 (1960)
The Englishman Walton's Symphony No. 1 is famous for its flamboyance and clarity, but his No. 2, composed 25 years later, is a fashionable, abstract piece for the connoisseur's taste.
The first movement opens with a mysterious worldview, with strings and woodwinds layering a transparent melody over the quiet tinkling sixteenth-note harmony of the strings; the second movement has a slow, deep, singing melody, and the third movement begins with a wind chorale and ends with a lively, rushing finale.

Unusually for a Luzcoal concert, an encore will be provided this time. We hope you will enjoy it to the end.
